This one has a story.

Reserva dos Compinchas wasn't born to be perfect. It was born to be real.

Between flawed decisions, misplaced labels, and the typical stubbornness of someone who doesn't give up, this rare wine emerged: Xico's first luxury wine . A limited edition, designed to last—in memory, on the table, and, if you're smart, in the cellar.

Here, Alfrocheiro reigns supreme, an often-forgotten Alentejo grape variety, but full of character and elegance. Alongside it, like good accomplices, come Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira , providing structure, depth, and that warmth that only the Alentejo knows how to put in a glass.

There are only 580 bottles .

Few. Counted. And only for those who understand that there are wines that are not to be drunk in haste.

What the glass tells

In the glass, Reserva dos Compinchas reveals itself without hesitation:

A dark, almost black, concentrated ruby color , the kind that speaks volumes even before the first sip.

On the nose, ripe red fruit appears — cherry, blackberry, plum — followed by spices , a discreet floral touch and deeper notes of chocolate and mint/eucalyptus , a result of aging in French oak .

On the palate it is full-bodied , with ripe and silky tannins , good acidity holding the whole together, and a long, persistent, and warm finish . It lingers. It doesn't apologize. And it comes back to mind after a while.

When to open (or not open)

This is a wine for special occasions .

For a table where conversation slows down, the meat is well-prepared and time doesn't matter.

Ideal for red meats, oven roasts, hearty dishes — or simply to open when the day calls for something special and you don't want witnesses.

But here's a warning from companion to companion:

Keep a bottle .

And she believes that one day someone might come looking for her…

And at that moment, only those who have been Compincha from the beginning will have it.

O Reserva Dos Compinchas - Xico Sabido

The first oaked wine

The ingredients (no tricks)

Reserva dos Compinchas is born from three Alentejo grape varieties that understand each other as people from the same table:

Alfrocheiro

It's the heart of the wine. It provides elegance, freshness, and that clean red fruit that holds everything together. A fine grape variety, often forgotten, but here treated as it deserves — with time and respect.

Alicante Bouschet

It's the muscle. It brings deep color, structure, and intensity. It's what supports the weight of the wine without making it heavy. Firm, serious, but well-mannered.

Cracker

It is the restless soul. It adds acidity, spice, and nerve, balancing the whole and giving it longevity. Without it, the wine would speak less.

To all this is added aging in French oak , carefully measured, just to refine the edges, add complexity and allow the wine to breathe slowly.

The benefits

From only 2 barrels

Not much wine, because at the time I only had enough money for 2 barrels.

Only 580 bottles . It's not a limited edition just for show. It's a small quantity because it had to be that way. Those who have it, have it. Those who don't... will have to wait for the story to unfold.

Complexity without exaggeration.

Full-bodied, yet balanced. Intense, yet elegant. It's a wine that impresses without being tiring, perfect for those who appreciate depth without heaviness.

Elevated momentum automatically

You place this bottle on the table and the conversation changes. Time slows down. Dinner takes on greater importance. It's a wine that elevates the moment without asking permission.

Serious gastronomic profile

It pairs well with red meats, roasts, rich dishes —and holds its own with challenging dishes without disappearing from the plate. It's there from the first to the last minute.

potential for custody

Thanks to its structure, acidity, and aging in French oak, this is a wine that ages well in the bottle . Drinking it now is good. Cellaring it is even better.

Why is it known?

Xico left the city to make wine focused on identity: with flavor, fun, and without boring words. The others just add volume. Xico makes stories that are meant to be drunk.
